The brief for this project was to completely renovate the interior of an existing bungalow with the addition of large extensions to the rear & sides. The design emphasis was to completely transform a 1980's style bungalow bliss house into a modern open plan home. The layout of the clients existing dwelling house was no longer able to cater for the needs of their young, active and growing family. The existing room sizes were small and generally restrictive in relation furniture location etc.
The design focused mainly on the redefining of the existing internal spaces, the addition of substantial contemporary extensions which would be modern and stylish yet would accommodate all of the needs of the client.
The proposed development consisted of:
The construction of side extension, accessed through the existing ensuite, to incorporate a master bedroom with ensuite & walk-in wardrobe. The construction of a rear utility area to house a home gym, study room, & laundry facilities. The extension of the existing kitchen/dining room to allow for an extended open plan family area. Internal alterations to increase bedroom size and create 2 no. ensuite.
This project is a great example of how high quality contemporary architecture can be achieved regardless of the condition of the existing structure.
